The Riverland is home to a delicious selection of boutique cellar doors, pristine local produce, regional providores, breweries and distilleries. We recommend sampling as much local produce as you can, a few of our favourites are below:
Mallee Estate
Mallee Estate | Winery & Restaurant | Riverland, Renmark
This winery is not only home to beautiful wines, but also home to a fantastic restaurant featuring greek influenced fare. It’s also only a 10 minute drive from the accommodation. Our top pick from Mallee Estate is their 230 Strong Men Grenache or the Estate tempranillo.

Angove Family Wine Makers
Angove Family Winemakers - Experience - Visit Renmark
Less than 15 minutes from the River Hamptons is the Riverland region’s oldest winery, Angove Family Wine Makers. They are Australia’s leading organic grape grower and winemaker, with a deep commitment to sustainability. As well as local organic wine, Angove is also home to St Agnes distillery and barrel halls where you can sample Blind Tiger gin, St Agnes brandy and Camborne whiskey.

Caudo Vineyard
Caudo Vineyard | Family Owned & Operated Vineyard - Cellar Door
For wine, pizzas, sangria, BBQs and local regional produce, Caudo Vineyard is the place. They are also the only cellar door in Australia that has access via boat. Whether you’re driving there or drifting up, the cellar door has something for everyone. We love the sangria on a hot Summer’s day.

The Loxton local houses the 1908 café, and several sophisticated dining (and drinking) areas. It’s a local favourite and a great place to have a great country pub meal.

23rd Street Distillery

The new Distillery is less than 15 minutes up the road and home to fresh gins, and a great lunch and dinner menu. This is a must for your Riverland getaway. Our recommendation is the spiced cauliflower steak eggplant masala!

Salena Estate
For long lunches featuring pizzas and pastas, paired with delicious wines, Salena Estate is the ideal location. A cellar door and restaurant (Cucina 837 at Salena) steeped in three generations of Italian heritage, and only minutes up the road. For wine our pick is the 2022 Vermentino, and for food the traditional salty carbonara with fettucini.

Berri Hotel

A 30 minute walk from River Hamptons is the Berri Hotel. A local staple, and home to great pub fare and riverside dining.

LOCAL PRODUCE
If you want authentic Riverland produce we recommend stopping along at fruit and veg stalls along your journey.
The local fruits and veg available will depend on what time you’re visiting, but the Riverland region is known for its abundance of almonds, stone fruit, citrus, grapes and olives.
And please remember not to bring any fruit or vegetables into the Riverland region, so we can preserve our pristine produce.
One of our local favourites is Illalangi Gourmet Foods. They create platter boxes packed with fresh local produce that you can enjoy riverside, or take back to the River Hamptons to enjoy. They are proudly family-owned and local to the Ngawait region.
THINGS TO DO
There’s plenty of places to eat and drink throughout the Riverland region, but if you’re after something else, we have a few recommended activities below:
Brookfield Conservation Park

The park is home to a wide array of native wildlife, not only the southern hairy-nosed Wombat (lasiorhinus latifrons), but also to species such as the fat-tailed dunnart, common dunnart, red & western grey kangaroos and emus. They have Bushwalking tracks and mountain biking for all levels.

Experiences range from wine tasting, picnics, self-guided wetlands tours and even guided bird watching tours. You can enjoy breakfast or lunch on the beautiful riverside.

Loveday Adventure Park

Loveday 4x4 Adventures is a privately owned 4x4 adventure park. If you want to get the adrenaline pumping you can enjoy rally and buggy driving experiences, plus jet ski tours along the Murray River.
It also has a 22 acre gel blaster field. About a half an hour drive from Berri.
